Who we are...

Business & Community Lenders (BCL) of Texas is a statewide nonprofit economic development organization that focuses on helping individuals buy homes, finance businesses and learn how to manage money. 

On a larger scale, BCL’s business lending and community development projects create new jobs and economic growth .

 BCL of Texas works with partners, such as the government agencies like the City of Austin and the Small Business Administration (SBA), other nonprofits like Neighborhood Housing Services of Dimmit County, and lenders such as Bank of America to provide community services include a range of ongoing activities that strengthen individual/family and community assets, including physical, social, organizational and financial assets.

BCL also has a rural initiative, which focuses on building the capacity of rural communities and municipalities in the areas of housing and economic development activities.

BCL's main office is located in Austin Texas and focuses on Entrepreneruship.  Their Homeownership Center in located in Dallas Texas and focuses on Homeownership programs and community Development.

BCL provides various classes and one-on-one counseling to assist people on becoming more self sufficient and self sustaining in regards to their personal financial situations.

Save for Our Own: Financial Literacy education which helps you plan your personal finances and budget for a major purchase such as buying a car, home, or starting a business.

Home of Our Own: Homebuyer Education is a 2 part course which follows the “Realizing the American Dream” curriculum to help families build their assets and close the wealth gap. Maintain on Our Own: Post Purchase classes teaches families how to keep up with their home and the after effects of homeownership and belonging to a community.

Home Retention Solutions : Foreclosure Prevention counseling for homeowner throughout the entire state of Texas having trouble paying their mortgage. BCL of Texas provides FREE foreclosure prevention counseling by expert counselors. Homeowners can get budgeting help, a written financial plan, and assistance in contacting their lender.
